Most diving happens at Julian Rocks Marine Reserve, which is now part of the recently established Cape Byron Marine Park. Dive sites are only a few minutes boat ride from Main Beach, Byron Bay.

Byron Underwater Festival 2009 is shaping up !
The 3rd annual Byron Underwater Festival will be held from Monday the 27th of April to Sunday the 3rd of May. The Byron Underwater Festival is aimed to engage everyone with an interest in the marine environment, whether you want to dive it, snorkel it, kayak it … even paint it, or just observe it from the safety of your armchair.
An underwater photo and video shootout with more than $20,000 worth of prizes is only the beginning. Guest of honour Neville Coleman, underwater pioneer and author of over 50 books, will be with us at the festival for the 3rd time, participating in many events and delivering some outstanding marine wildlife presentations.
