Black-spot Goatfish, Parupeneus signatus
Black-spot Goatfish
(Parupeneus signatus)
Schools of these fish are seen in all areas around Julian Rocks, Juveniles can be seen feeding frantically on the bottom in small groups. They use a pair of strong barbels located on the chin to find food.
These goatfish can change their normal colouring from a reddish colour to blue and purple depending what they are up to (being cleaned, resting, mating, feeding).
